Rainbow Bee-eaters

This colourful bird is a fast flyer, catching insects on the wing. Living in open forests and woodlands throughout Australia, it avoids heavy forests that would hinder its aerial pursuit of insects. In breeding season, they require a loamy soft but firm soil slope or bank in which to tunnel for nesting.
