Eclectus Parrots 2

These spectacular parrots live in the forests and woodlands of Cape York Peninsula in North Queensland. Noisy and conspicuous, they fly out to feed on fruiting trees. The sexes differ greatly, the male being bright emerald green but the females are mostly deep red with a bright blue belly. For nearly a century after they were discovered the two were thought to be different species.
