Pelicans on the Wharf
The Australian Pelican is found all over the country and is very distinctive in its black and white coat. It looks an awkward bird on land but is amagnificent flier and swimmer. They often feed in large swimming flocks, dipping and scooping up fish in their large bill in a synchronised motion. Pelicans breed in colonies often near to inland waters nesting on the ground .
