Tasmanian Devil 1

This is the largest of the carnivorous marsupials but prefers to eat carrion. It is only found in the wild in Tasmania, sleeping in a sheltered places and emerging at night to feed. Known for its fearsome noise, sharp teeth, and aggressive mating behaviour its population is now threatened by a tumour disease spread by biting. Tasmanian Devils are being bred in captivity on the Australian mainland as an insurance against possible extinction.
